SCOTT’S HIGHLIGHTS:

• After leading The Masters at various stages in April, Scott missed the cut at the teams Zurich Classic alongside former World Cup-winning partner Jason Day before righting the ship at the US PGA Championship at Bethpage Black. Scott managed the second-lowest round of the tournament, his Friday 64 one shot higher than winner Brooks Koepka’s opening 63 around the notoriously difficult New York layout. The Queenslander’s one-over-par tournament total was good enough for a tie for 8th and the top Australian in the field.

• In his next start, Scott looked extremely likely to end his three-year win drought at the Jack Nicklaus-hosted Memorial tournament. After opening with 71, the 2013 Masters champion closed with 66, 66, 68 to finish runner-up to American Patrick Cantlay by two shots. Cantlay’s closing 64 prompted Nicklaus, who praised Scott’s patience as he attempts to win for the 15th time on the PGA Tour, to comment: “Adam played a good round of golf. On the 18th green, I said: ‘You played well today but he ran into a 64.’” Scott’s second consecutive top-10 marked his eighth finish inside the top-20 for the 2018/19 wraparound season.

• Despite not collecting a win before his next start at the US Open (at the time of going to press), Scott’s recent run of good play saw him rank highly across a range of statistical categories, including: Strokes Gained Tee-to-Green (7th); Scoring Average (5th); and Strokes Gained Putting (22nd), having returned to an unanchored long putter post the Zurich Classic. Scott’s 2019 season earnings have also taken him past the $50million mark in career earnings on the PGA Tour alone, where he ranks 7th all-time.

“I’M WALKING OUT ONTO THE GOLF COURSE LIKE WITH A SENSE OF CALM AND CONFIDENCE THAT I KNOW I’M GOING TO BE ABLE TO DEAL WITH THE GOLF COURSE AND MYSELF OUT THERE. I’M NOT WALKING OUT THERE NOT KNOWING WHAT’S GOING TO HAPPEN. SO THAT’S A NICE WAY TO BE.” – ADAM SCOTT
