Titleist’s three new T-Series iron models – T100, T200 and T300 – offer “a combination of power, performance, playability and feel unlike anything Titleist has ever designed” according to the company that is already the No.1 iron brand on the PGA Tour.
“The T-Series represents a revolutionary step forward in Titleist iron design and technology,” Vice President of Titleist Golf Club Marketing Josh Talge said. “Our Club Research and Development (R&D) team is nearly six times the size it was when the first AP iron was introduced 11 years ago. It’s because of that ongoing investment that we’ve been able to make such significant breakthroughs in materials and construction, and learn how to package those technologies into constructions that offer the look, sound and feel that players expect from a Titleist iron.”
Instantly finding their way into the bags of some of the world’s best players, including Jordan Spieth who inserted a set of T100 irons at The Open and Queenslander Cameron Smith, the new models replace the extremely popular AP range of irons.
The T200 and T300 feature Titleist’s new ‘Max Impact’ technology, with all three models engineered for improvements in dispersion, carry distance and consistency, as well as possessing optimised ball flights throughout each set.
“When I first saw the T100 irons and it didn’t say ‘AP2’ on it, I had to have full trust,” Spieth said of his own successful testing process. “I’m sitting there saying, ‘Man, I played the same iron that said the same thing on it since 2010, probably earlier.’ But I’ve been playing Titleist clubs since I was 12 years old, and they’ve never led me in the wrong direction and they’ve always gotten better. And the idea of a name change – really an entire change across the board with their irons – is big. But there are big changes.”
New Max Impact technology is the result of consultation and partnership with the company’s Golf Ball R&D team to develop a unique polymer core that allowed the new models to incorporate an extremely thin face in the mid- and long-irons, delivering maximum ball speed across the hitting area without negatively affecting sound and feel.
The polymer core supports the structure to allow for more flexible faces built for increased ball speed and launch, while also dampening sound.
Identified as “a true Tour iron”, the T100 was designed with direct input from Titleist’s Tour staff and provides stability and control, in a shape pleasing to the most discerning player.
Utilising progressive head sizes and centre of gravity (CG) positions, the T100 features a new fully-forged dual cavity construction, with dualdensity tungsten co-forged into the head for increased moment of inertia (MOI). A thin topline and refined sole combine with a thinner face to offer better players consistent distance, workability and forgiveness.
Through the incorporation of Max Impact behind a forged ‘SUP-10 L-Face’ insert, the T200 adds distance to a player’s shape, while also increasing the amount of tungsten compared to the T100 for even greater MOI and lower CG, resulting in more forgiveness and higher ball flights.
Similarly to the smaller T100, the T200 features progressive CG, sole widths and blade and hosel lengths, as well as a thinner topline when compared with previous models and a sole designed to offer improved turf interaction.
Rounding out the new iron launch, the T300 is the most forgiving of the three models, offering maximum distance and forgiveness thanks to Max Impact technology in a mid-sized profile that is still pleasing to the eye and belies the performance characteristics on offer.
To complement the new high-performance head designs, Titleist will offer True Temper AMT steel and Mitsubishi MCA Tensei graphite shafts in model-specific weights and bend profiles as standard, as well as offering a wide range of custom options at no upcharge. SRP: T100 and T200: $269 per iron (steel), $309 per iron (graphite); T300: $199 per iron (steel), $239 per iron (graphite).
