APRIL 2, 2006: Queensland’s Karrie Webb beats Mexico’s Lorena Ochoa with a birdie on the 1st playoff hole to win the year’s first major, the Kraft Nabisco Championship. Earlier, Webb had eagled the same hole to force the playoff.
APRIL 2, 1995: Acclaimed American golfer, coach, author and World Golf Hall of Famer, Harvey Penick, dies of degenerative arthritis, aged 90. Good friend Ben Crenshaw uses his death as inspiration en route to winning the Masters that week.
APRIL 14, 2013: Adam Scott becomes the first Australian to win the Masters, defeating Argentina’s Angel Cabrera in a play-off.
APRIL 20, 1851: Four-time Open Champion Young Tom Morris is born in St Andrews, Scotland.
APRIL 29,1947: Former US and British Open Champion turned TV commentator Johnny Miller is born in San Francisco, California.
