BUSHFIRE RECOVERY TOUR
Go Golfing Travel, one of Australia’s most recognised golf travel companies, has launched a golf tour to support New South Wales communities ravaged by bushfires over the Christmas period.
Two-thirds of New South Wales’ south coast were scorched by the fires.
Peter McCarthy, founder of Go Golfing Travel, made a commitment to help the bushfire aected communities back in January.
Firstly, Go Golfing fundraised and donated cash, however McCarthy believes this Bushfire Recovery Golf Tour will have immediate and sustained benefits for these communities.
“This tour will inject dollars into hotels, golf courses and local tourism businesses,” he said.
Starting in Bowral in the Southern Highlands, the tour weaves its way through Mollymook, Batemans Bay and Narooma before finishing in Merimbula.
While these destinations aren’t recognised as golfing hotspots, when combined, this golf trail is stacked with quality golf courses.
The rugged clitop setting, ocean views and terrific putting surfaces found at Narooma Golf Club have it consistently ranked in Australia’s top-100 courses. Other ‘must-play’ courses on this trip include the Hilltop Course at Mollymook, Mt Broughton, Catalina, Moruya, Tura Beach and Pambula Merimbula.
The itinerary features country charm and warm hospitality, rich cultural experiences and celebrated local attractions such as the Bradman Museum and Cricket Hall of Fame in Bowral.
There’s also a guided tour of the Coomee Nulunga Cultural Trail as the tour traverses the most spectacular stretch of southern NSW coastline.
Another highlight will be Mogo Zoo. The zoo featured prominently in news coverage as sta courageously fought the fires to save the animals and then became a sanctuary and rehabilitation centre for wildlife caught in the fires.
The Bushfire Recovery Golf Tour runs from February 9 to 22 in 2021.
