Home this Easter? It's a perfect moment to invite friends around for warm and spicy homemade hot cross buns – and to take a bit of time out for yourself by making some of these lovely long weekend crafts.

Decorated eggs

Butterflies and eggs are ancient Easter symbols due to the season’s traditional themes of resurrection and new life. Hard boil eggs of different shades and sizes. Dry and cool before using a fine tip black marker pen to write messages of hope and love onto the shells. See good.net.nz/eastercraft2 for butterfly sheets to print. Use a Brother ScanNCut to scan and cut out. Fold the wings and attach to eggs with a drop of glue.

Leaping bunny bunting

Go to good.net.nz/eastercraft3 for a leaping bunny template to print. Scan and cut at least 10 bunnies using stiff white paper and a Brother ScanNCut. Use paper glue to stick two bunnies together, stringing a line of thread between each pair. Repeat to reach desired length.

Scented drawer bunnies

Select cotton fabrics with matching thread. Go to good.net.nz/ eastercraft4 for a bunny template to print. Cut out and sew together as directed, using a Brother sewing machine. Fill with a mix of rice and lavender flowers, dried cloves or star anise. Sew along the bottom to close and decorate with a ribbon tied at the neck. Perfect for delicately scented drawers!
