Happy birthday to Good! Wonderful wash cloths

-

It’s Good’s 12th birthday and to celebrate we took some gorgeous rose petal Church Confetti with us on our cover shoot out at Māori Bay, Muriwai. There’s something so joyful and celebratory about throwing colourful confetti in the air! Church Confetti is eco-friendly and 100 per cent natural, made from naturally scented freezedried rose petals. Raising a cuppa to Level 1

IdealCup has issued two memorabilia cups to acknowledge the leadership of prime minister Jacinda Ardern and Dr Siouxsie Wiles during the COVID-19 response. “Our PM has led our nation through this surreal COVID-19 response with compassion and aplomb,” says IdealCup co-owner Stephanie Fry. “Similarly Dr Siouxsie Wiles has done an incredible job of educating our team of five million about the science relating to COVID-19.” Auckland graphic designer Keegan Elliot allowed the use of his Jacinda Ardern image, and the Dr Siouxsie Wiles image was provided by Ben Mills from Bold As Brass Apparel. $10 from every cup sold is being donated to the Starship Foundation.

Outside the box

Creating a casket from cardboard is no easy feat so award-winning industrial designer Becs Bartells has a right to feel proud. She spent two years developing a sustainable coffin/casket that’s made from cardboard, weight tested to carry up to 300kg, can be comfortably carried by pallbearers and has Natural Burial Certification. They can be painted, collaged, wrapped and decorated. We also agree with Bartell that cutting down trees that take 28-30 years to grow to make caskets that are going to be buried or cremated doesn’t make a lot of sense.

Wheat paper

We’re huge fans of Warehouse Stationery’s new environmentallyfriendly copy paper made from wheat straw ble-nded with recycled wood at a ratio of 60 to 40 per cent. Not only are there no trees being felled but the wheat stalks and offcuts are usually burned, so turning them into paper is reducing airborne pollution as well as providing an environmentally-friendly solution for the office.

Hailing from Sweden, Eco Cloths, $9 each, get our tick for so many reasons! They are made from all-natural materials, they don’t shed plastic because there isn’t any. They are reusable and can be used for six to nine months – simply wash them in a dishwasher or washing machine and hang out to dry. And once you’re done you can chuck them in your compost bin or use them as weed mat.
