QANTAS UPGRADE

In a game where every centimetre counts, Qantas claims the premiumeconomy seats that will appear in its fleet of Dreamliners from October are as wide as businessclass seats in other airlines. Sydney-based industrial designer David Caon (see Business Class, page 166) says the seat has “new bespoke design elements” not seen on aircraft, including a “unique recline motion” for enhanced comfort and less intrusion on the passenger behind. Meanwhile, Qantas has done deals with Foxtel, Netflix and Spotify to stream video and audio on domestic flights with WiFi enabled, rolling out across its fleet this year. qantas.com.au
