Where do you travel to regularly for work?

“My work takes me to all corners. Melbourne is my most visited place and probably my favourite; however, Sydney is always home. Internationally, Shanghai is always interesting. It’s got a great mix of culture, no shortage of rooftop bars, wonderful food and a good nightlife. The best Italian restaurant (outside Italy) is Shanghai’s Mercato on The Bund.”

Suitcase of choice?

“A Mandarina Duck carry-on and laptop bag. I bought them both in Florence and they go with me everywhere.”

Pre-flight routine?

“These days my entire pre-flight routine revolves around uploading my iPad with the latest Netflix series. I always make sure I’m at the airport early so I can enjoy a toastie at the lounge. And I try to dress as comfortably as possible – there’s really no need to wear a tie on the plane.”

Essential cabin baggage?

“Noise-cancelling earphones.”

Onboard routine?

“I always use my flights to catch up on sleep.

I’ve found a trick with seat selection: seat

9A on Boeing 737-800 domestic flights doesn’t have a window. Snag that and it means you can avoid the sun beaming in on an early-morning flight, or the flight attendant waking you up to open the window shade.”

Roll or fold? “You have to fold don’t you? It just makes sense.” Window or aisle? “I prefer the window on short-haul flights, but for long haul you can’t beat an aisle seat for convenience.”

Favourite airline lounge?

“Virgin domestic lounges have everything I need – WiFi, good food and cold beer.”

Favourite hotels for business?

“The Crown Group always looks after you well; the breakfast buffet at the Crown Metropol in Perth is seriously amazing.”

How do hotels get it right for business travellers?

“I spend a lot of time in my room catching up on emails so a hotel needs to be up to date with technology (can we get rid of the docks with the old rectangular iPhone charger, please?). It’s always a nice touch when a hotel remembers a returning guest and their preferences. And a good sauna or steam room is a great fix after a long day travelling. It’s good to be able to unwind in silence.” Eurolinx is the Australian and Asia Pacific wholesale importer and distributor of Ilve and Artusi appliances, with offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.
