PAYING IT FORWARD

-

Melbourne’s Asylum Seeker Resource Centre has launched a new home-delivery service, to complement its catering business. The social enterprise employs 16 staff who are people seeking asylum and are not eligible to receive wage subsidies. To double-up on the kindness, for every meal purchased, another is donated to people seeking asylum. “Our food is influenced by the flavours and traditions of the diverse cultures of our staff who have come to Australia from across the globe to seek safety and start a new life,” explains head chef Brett Kuhne. You’ll find dishes such as Persian eggplant fessunjun, hearty East African curries and spicy Ethiopian tikel gomen on the menu. meals.asrc.org.au
