Example1 EFG – with extra ‘sharps’
Keep your fingers in a one-finger-per-fret position and use your first, second and fourth fingers to play the E, F and G notes. We will now add two extra notes, F# and G#; when the F# is introduced, keep your hand where it is and use your idle third finger to play it. To play the G#, move your hand up a fret and play it with your fourth finger. This ‘correct’ fingering helps, since it frees you from looking at the neck so much.
