Ritchie E Blackmore was a big influence on Malmsteen, who went on to purchase a positive armada of vintage Strats. When many of Malmsteen’s contemporaries were favouring the latest, pointiest ‘Super Strat’, Yngwie stuck with the vintage Stratocaster for playing his break-neck solos on. This example uses fast alternate picking and the Harmonic Minor scale. The example is topped off with some fast diminished 7th arpeggios.
