JTony Hicks was no slouch when it came to ‘changes’ playing as this example demonstrates. He would often create solos that weaved their way through the chords. Notice the use of D major pentatonic over the D7 (V) chord, C mixolydian over C7 (IV) chord, and a final position shift up to shape 1 of G minor pentatonic over G7. make sure your phrasing includes the syncopation indicated in bars 3 and 4.
