Repetition, repetition, repetition is the order of the day here, with probably the most conventional blues phrasing of the bunch. Carlton is great at playing over the bar lines, particularly in bar 12 when he wishes to take another chorus. This gives the rest of the band a clear indication that he’s intending to go round one more time. While this is typical blues fare; there is a lovely chromatic approach line in the pick-up that alludes to his deeply ingrained jazz vocabulary.
