EXAMPLE7 Joe Walsh Rhythm Style

This example is a condensed collection of ideas that evoke the energy, attack and rhythmic displacement often heard in Joe’s chord work – so it might sound a little busy on the first listen. It kicks off with some typical chords and a repeated Pentatonic motif. Bars 4, 5, 6 and 7 all give a slightly different syncopation, so spend a bit of time with each and you should find a lot of useful ideas. The guitar used was a Strat with the middle pickup selected.
