EXAMPLE4 DuanE – solo at 4’.13”
Tuned to open E, this first solo demonstrates Duane’s relaxed approach – none of that chomping at the bit ‘here-are-all-my-licks’ approach one often hears at a blues jam. This is where your ability to pitch becomes extremely important, particularly when working along one string, as in bars 7 and 8. Flatten your fretting fingers lightly onto the strings behind the slide to keep things sounding clear, and to prevent any unwanted notes from ringing out.
