These two-bar moves could be considered as a form of ‘chord-lick’ and can be used whenever you see either a minor or a major chord lasting at least two beats or in a static situation. You’ll notice an abundance of 6th chords in this style and early jazz styles in general, so ensure you are familiar with both major 6 (R-3-5-6) and minor 6 forms (R- 3-5-6).
