Th­ese two-bar moves could be con­sid­ered as a form of ‘chord-lick’ and can be used when­ever you see ei­ther a mi­nor or a ma­jor chord last­ing at least two beats or in a static sit­u­a­tion. You’ll no­tice an abun­dance of 6th chords in this style and early jazz styles in gen­eral, so en­sure you are fa­mil­iar with both ma­jor 6 (R-3-5-6) and mi­nor 6 forms (R- 3-5-6). While you’re at it, make sure you learn their as­so­ci­ated arpeg­gios in a va­ri­ety of fret­board lo­ca­tions and keys.
