These funky disco style chords are voiced on the top three strings. As we move between the chord symbols on the chart, every effort is made to make the transitions from chord to chord nice and smooth - this is called voice leading. Just moving one or two notes in small intervals helps with continuity. The rhythm is kept snappy and tight. The section of 7#9 chords leads us into a guitar solo in the style of Prince and Slash; this combines the wah-wah and a full-on, soaring overdrive. The scale in use here is F Minor
