EXAMPLE DELAYED RESOLUTION

bnIf you look at the delayed resolution indicated by the bracket in bars 15 and 16, it comprises a chromatic descent from the first note in the bracket (F) to the last note (B). Note that this chromatic motion has been delayed by the inclusion of various notes on the fourth and second strings. This would have been more obvious if the B note was played on the 4th fret of Del. the Res. third string rather than as A.N. an open second string. Finally, the last two notes in bar 16 are played in anticipation of 10 the G7 following 8 bar. Moving early 7 to the next 6 chord 5 is very commonly-used device in many forms of music. Notice that the same

a straight chromatic descent, but the resolution to the F note is delayed by the inclusion of notes on both the third and first string (both above and below the chromatic motion on the second string). Incidentally, the fifth note in bar 19 is simply a bluesy minor 3rd (in this case, from G Minor Pentatonic scale).

Starting from bar 20, this section has a transposed version of the same four-note motif. In the first, the chromatic ascent of G-G#-A on the fourth string is delayed 10 by inserting a B on the third. Similarly, in the second, the chromatic 10 ascent 10 of 10 D-D#-E on the fifth string is delayed by inserting an F#
