This picture [above] was taken on 6 October, just after I’d bought my Supro Black Magick – and the Fano SP6 just arrived from the States via Coda after a four-month build. Pleased to see your pairing of these two (albeit the Standard SP6) in your December issue’s ‘Rigs Of The Year’. They really do work together perfectly. It’s certainly my rig of the year! Adrian Miller via email They look stunning together, Adrian – but, of course, we’re not at all jealous, honest!

ViVa Santana!

Just bought the latest issue of Guitarist and I’m thrilled that you have done a review of the PRS SEs, especially the Santana, because I received one as a birthday present just two months ago. However, you mentioned that the new model now has 24 frets. Mine has 22, does that mean I’ve got the old model? And, does that mean I have the SE245 pickups as you reviewed in your 2011 article on this guitar, not these new SE Santana ones? Andrew Cooper via email Our reviews editor Dave Burrluck replies: “I’m afraid it does – all the maple-top guitars have been revamped and yours is the old model. Having played that one, it’s still a bloomin’ good guitar and personally I prefer 22 frets (not least as it puts the neck pickup in the ‘right’ place). Also, those 245 ’buckers are far from shabby. I’m not sure exactly what pickups Santana uses, but I reckon that guitar would sound sweet with a pair of Duncan ’59s (still a great pickup). If you add coil-splits via the tone control, I reckon you’d have a Santana that would sound superb!”
