Acoustic country done the old way Like Chris Stapleton before him, the discovery that Georgia-born Cobb has written songs for a slew of modern country stars isn’t a surprise – his debut sounds so assured. But it’s one that takes an acoustic trip back to a time of bluer collars, aided by the trusted ear of his cousin Dave Cobb on production. The Southern way of life is entwined into South Of Atlanta and Country Bound, and the soulfully strummed acoustic dynamic with phased electric could have easily found home in the 70s. Certainly the country heroes of those times would be grateful to have Black Crow, The World or the wistful title track in their repertoires.
