The long-awaited return of the bluesman to the UK is well timed, coming off the back of an acclaimed album, Middle Of The Road, and the sense that he’s back on the right path that should lead him to wider recognition. He was heralded as a blues prodigy as a teenager, releasing his debut in 1991, but by 2009 he was spending time in the Shelby County Correction Center for possession of drugs and a weapon. A road to redemption has found him full of positivity, focused on his artistry and proving to more people why the likes of Joe Bonamassa, Mark Tremonti, Carlos Santana and Tosin Abasi are huge fans. “I don’t know if the world is ready,” he tells us, “but this is the return of Eric Gales, so y’all better be ready.”
