I was there from record one! “On Walter… he had a quirky sense of playing guitar, at least on record. Listen to, say, Black Friday. There are many things in there not guitar-like. Like he sung ideas then figured out how to play it, maybe even some by accident cause he didn’t play boxshaped blues solos. Some of the most fun/weird solos came from Walter and perhaps he took pride in not being like any other, even though he could have any other guitarist he wanted. He had amazing command of the English language which is obvious and in the songs he co-wrote with Donald, which we thankfully have forever. I did not know Walter well but I am honoured to have known him at all. RIP Walter…”
