Sting’s guitarist Dominic Miller offers this road-tested advice on dealing with gear foul-ups in front of a live audience: “My biggest tip is when things go wrong – such as a string break – don’t panic. Instead react to the problem slowly,” he says. “Rushing will only make you look silly and out of control. Plus the rest of the band might actually welcome a break from you anyway. Take your time. Bottom line, the slower you fix it the quicker you reach a solution.”
