“Get a new or very clean small paintbrush for reaching into all those nooks and crannies on a guitar that a duster won’t reach,” recommends Gary Moore tech Graham Lilley. “Under bridges and tailpieces, between strings on a headstock, between bridge saddles and all sorts of other places. Clean gear tends to keep working, as opposed to dirty crud-covered equipment, which sometimes might be what’s holding an item together. If you look after your gear, then not only will it keep on working, maybe it will keep some of its resale value if you need to sell it or when it’s time to upgrade it. Cotton buds (organic, non-plastic stem type) will also help reach any corners and tease the muck out.”
