GET THE BEST FROM DELAY

-

Here’s a handy reference for getting good delay sounds for common musical scenarios: make solos really punch out of a band or mix with a 0-30ms doubling delay. Anything between approximately 30 and 100ms is a rock ‘n’ roll slapback. You’ll find a good basic Robben Ford/David Grissom-type delay between 250 and 350ms. Try a single repeat to begin with. Avoid long delay times and/or reduce the effect level for faster playing passages. Conversely, longer delay times and a relatively wet-mix works well for long-note, sustaining lead passages.
