OPEN UP THE DAW

-

Like many, I play often. However, I’m not in a band so there is only me to entertain. Sometimes I play covers, other times I go free-form and whatever happens, happens. Occasionally, I even astound myself and believe I’ve composed a masterpiece – but sadly I’ve usually forgotten it by the next evening. What I’d like more information on is DAWs and how they work – a tutorial, if you will – such that the older generation of players can get to grips with recording. Maybe capture that spontaneous lick. How to add drums and, bit by bit, make a recording. There is so much choice of DAWs I just feel lost. YouTube videos are fine if you’re into hip-hop, etc – but what if your bag is blues and classic rock? Can you help? Steve Poole, Bishopswood Great idea, Steve, we’ll look into it. In the meantime, as a general primer, we can recommend the Home Studio Handbook by some of our studio-minded colleagues http://bit.ly/home_recording.
