Mr Big

-

Live From Milan Frontiers Music

Hard rock supergroup still very much kicking onstage Though coming a bit too late in the 80s glam-metal heyday to experience the same glories of the stadium-filling behemoths of the era, Mr Big have remained more than a curiosity having produced a string of great albums. Even though this live effort sounds like the crowd is barely into double figures and Eric Martin’s banter borders on annoying, the band sound great, with Paul Gilbert’s histrionic noodling on Alive and Kicking and cool tones of ballads Just Take My Heart and Take Cover stealing the show. Elsewhere the swagger of numbers like Everybody Needs A Little Trouble and bluesy Price You Gotta Pay shows their varied palette a lot better than the acoustic mid-set run through the jarring Wild World, and Damn, I’m In Love Again, while few do the shred-backed chorus of Around The World better. [AR] Standout track: Alive and Kicking For fans of: Van Halen, Extreme
