Bill Wyman’s Rhythm Kings
Studio Time Edsel
Legendary bassist still gathers no moss As far as side projects go, Bill Wyman’s Rhythm Kings was a doozy. The bassist set about assembling guest musicians around a static rhythm section – and considering these guests include the likes of Gary Brooker, Georgie Fame, Andy Fairweather Low, Albert Lee and Martin Taylor, you know the stage is set for some eclectic rhythm ’n’ blues. This is the outfit’s first album for 14 years and comprises outtakes from eight different sessions reaching back to 1987. The material is drawn from Willie Dixon, Canned Heat and Jimmie Rodgers, among others, plus a smattering of originals. [DM] Standout track: Long Comma Viper For fans of: The Blues Band
