Alice In Chains’ Willian DuVall reveals his Framus signature

-

William DuVall doesn’t see his Framus Talisman as a signature model in the traditional sense, and spent several years playing Framus guitars before even considering a design with his input. “It’s anyone’s canvas to do whatever they like,” he tells us of the design that blends classic LP control layout with a decidedly fresh shape.

“I feel like I should have seen this before but I haven’t seen anything quite like this,” William says of the Talisman’s alluring shape. “The thing that I was hoping to achieve is to get something that could take the place of the other key classic instrument that I’d been using for a number of years; the good old sunburst original spec Gibson Les Paul.”

As a vocalist who also takes solo duties on a number of songs in AIC’s set, William needs to access different tones fast on the fly – hence the four knob layout and pickups switch on the upper bout. “That was a conscious decision too because none of the Framuses I’d had to that point had that two and two volume and tone. And none of them had that type of switcher that a Les Paul has in the upper bout. So it was nice to be able to give them something that they hadn’t been doing either. ”

The Talisman is available as a Custom Shop Masterbuilt as well as a Pro Series Teambuilt instrument and features a mahogany body with carved flamed maple top and inserts and a mahogany neck with Tigerstripe ebony fingerboard.
