Guitar luminaries Steve Lukather, John Sykes, Steve Morse and Doug Aldrich will all feature on a Gary Moore tribute album set for release on 26 October. Titled

Moore Blues For Gary, it’s the brainchild of former Rainbow and Ozzy Osbourne bassist Bob Daisley. “I asked many members of the Gary Moore family tree, and some other great players, to contribute to the project,” says Daisely. “The response was not only encouragin­g but very moving. It seems that the name Gary Moore is also synonymous with the words ‘respect,’‘honour’ and ‘greatness.’ I didn’t set out to recreate anything Gary had done, or to compete in any way. These arrangemen­ts and performanc­es represent a hats off to Gary and nothing more.”

Guitarist was saddened to hear of the passing of Eddie Willis, original Motown Funk Brother, aged 62. A founding member of Motown’s house band, Willis had suffered ill health from his lifelong battle with polio. He joined the Funk Brothers in 1959 and would earn the nickname ‘Chank’. His signature muted, funky style became a key component of Motown hits including The Supremes’ You Keep Me Hangin’

Dave Mustaine has revealed he doesn’t agree with his friend Slash’s modest assessment in his autobiogra­phy that his playing probably wouldn’t work in the context of a Megadeth song. “Slash is a terrific talent and I disagree with what he said: that he couldn’t play on a Megadeth record,” Mustaine told Loudwire, before stating he would be ‘definitely interested’ in collaborat­ing.
