Roger Waters Us + Them EarMusic

- [DM]

Stunning live spectacular from Floyd alumnus

As you may imagine, anything that is even remotely connected to the juggernaut that is Pink Floyd is going to be a major spectacle. We’ll say straight away that this latest in concert package from Roger Waters is best experienced via the DVD, Blu-ray or 4k UHD versions for the most immersive experience. It’s visually stunning and you gain the benefit of surround sound, too.

The double-CD version of the collection is essentially the soundtrack to the movie and kicks off with the familiar heartbeat that takes us into a medley from the first half of Dark Side…, with One Of These Days inserted in the place usually occupied by synth odyssey On The Run. Welcome To The Machine

follows and it’s a full 30 minutes or so before we reach any of Waters’ solo material, in the form of Déjà Vu, The Last Refugee and Picture That from 2017’s Is This The Life We Really Want? album.

After that it’s back to Floyd standards, romping through tracks from

The Wall, Animals and then the other half of Dark Side. It’s a shame that Waters’ solo material – particularly that from the excellent Amused To Death

album – is so scant but the versions of the Floyd songs presented here on

Us + Them are virtually note perfect, the guitar duties in the capable hands of Dave Kilminster and Jonathan Wilson.

We hear that there is a new project on the cards for 2021 – current restrictions permitting, of course – and if the quality of this release is anything to go by, we can’t wait.

Standout track: Déjà Vu

For fans of: Pink Floyd, Waters, Mason, Wright & Gilmour
