There is something inherently poised and delicious about this estate’s wines. They are not prosaic but surely, this is far from the point. Most importantly, they are easy: to drink with gusto; pair with food; to love. Fleshier than most Hunter semillon in all its Meyer lemonclad-oyster-shelled-grassy glory, this semillon is juicy rather than abrasive. It is almost Chablisienne. It drinks well now, as it will for a decade or more. 11.5% alc. NG

This classic Hunter style, hand-picked off the Kelman Estate Vineyard, is showing typical varietal characters of fresh limes and lemons with some green apple fruit. Hints of straw and complexity are starting to emerge, but it will reward those patient enough to wait for a further five to 10 years.
