2015 STREICKER BRIDGELAND BLOCK MARGARET RIVER SYRAH
RRP $43 / 2035
The vineyard was picked in two halves, the first batch with 33% of stalks added back in, the batches aged separately for 14 months. The complex vinification has resulted in the power and weight of a wine with higher alcohol. Here the grapes were picked when ripe, no more, no less, the end result exceptional length to the jet-black fruits, with some of the savoury notes found with quality cabernets, not shiraz. The tannins, too, could come from cabernet, but in saying so, not to denigrate the positive role they (and the oak) play here. 14% alc.
SENIOR VINEYARD MANAGER Chris Gillmore What do you love about aged wine?
As a grower, there are two things that resonate when I drink cellared wine. One is nostalgia, created of the vintage challenge and resonant stories with the people of that time. Secondly, I enjoy wines with an evolution of style over consecutive vintages, the heritage continually tweaked and finessed to meet balance with age.”
