2016 KARRAWATTA DAIRY BLOCK ADELAIDE HILLS SHIRAZ

-

RRP $38 / 2028

Stylistically, this is a diversion in the range, drawing fruit from the more moderate climate of Meadows in the Adelaide Hills. Still, the propensity for ripe fruit, often pushing the envelope, threads its way from this fully flared wine’s floral attack, to its bitter chocolate scents and cherry compote spread across the mid-palate. Relying as much on a reductive tension for grip as it does on the region’s acidity, this has a cooler aura mingling with potent ripeness. 14.9% alc. NG

WINEMAKER Mark Gilbert What do you love about aged wine?

Wines with some age are a joy to experience and appreciate. As wines develop in the bottle they change in structure and style to create a more mature version of the wine. Without all the wine lingo it might be a bit like people: when you’re young you may be knowledgeable, but when you’re older you hopefully become wise.
