Meaty shiraz with peppercorn and violet-like notes playing off one another. It’s ribald at first, but settles down as it breathes, the pour of blackberry and plum flavours gradually taking over the show. Spice-infused but with ample ripe fruit. Plenty to like. 14.5% alc. CM

I guess cellaring wine can be a little like the Pixar kids’ movie Inside Out. It evokes joy when you’ve nailed it and opened a cracker wine! Fear, when you’re not 100 per cent sure on the cellaring potential. Sadness comes directly after joy, when there’s only two bottles left of that cracker! Anger (the third stage after joy and sadness) at yourself for not buying more. Disgust, when you open a bottle with a bad cork!
