2017 GUTHRIE CLONES CHARDONNAY

Bernard (75, 76 and 95), Entav and I10V1 clones hand-picked from neighbouring vineyards in Birdwood, whole-bunch pressed, wild-fermented in French oak (30% new), partial mlf, matured for 8 months. A pretty smart chardonnay is the outcome, the tension between the citrus components, stone fruit, French oak and acidity maintained from start to finish. A chardonnay born to rule for 20+ years. 13% alc.

WINEMAKER Hugh Guthrie How did you approach production for this wine?

The fruit for this wine was sourced from neighbouring mixed clonal chardonnay sites, and like all of our wines, was carefully handmade in tiny quantities. By early picking, the wine has retained its natural flinty acidity and delicate mouthfeel.
