20yo vines, hand-picked, destemmed, basketpressed, fermented in French oak (30% new), matured for 12 months. Oliver Rapson has calmly taken all of the steps needed to bring the best out of what is clearly high quality fruit. The fruit/oak balance and integration are high class, as is the wine. 13.5% alc. Hands-on in the vineyard but minimal intervention once in barrel, grapes are basket-pressed and the wine is then left to rest in oak for 12 months, expressing the 22-year-old block’s fruit perfectly. A great balance between richness and acidity is key to this chardonnay.
