Yarra Yering
2016 YARRA YERING CHARDONNAY
RRP $105 / 2023
The estate dry-grown vines, planted ’69, are among the oldest in the Yarra Valley, handpicked, chilled, whole-bunch pressed, wildfermented in French oak (30% new), no mlf, matured for 10 months. There’s something about the Yarra Yering site that always delivers richer wine than any other in the Valley. Of course, vine age is exceptional, as is the gentle north-facing slope, and this also imparts a unique honeyed richness. Lest you think it’s all too much, wait for the lovely citrussy acidity that lingers long after the wine has been swallowed. 13.5% alc.
WINEMAKER Sarah Crowe What do you believe typifies this winery’s chardonnay style?
