2017 St John’s Road Gee Whiz Tram Driver Eden Valley Dry Traminer Riesling

A 57/43% blend, ‘Tram Driver’ Barossa slang for gewurztraminer, sourced from two vineyards, 80% fermented with full solids in stainless steel, 20% in barrel. No effort was spared in increasing the complexity of the wine, and the result is as good as can have been expected. It has considerable texture and depth to the palate, yet isn’t the least bit heavy. The flavours are predominantly citrus, but with spicy and talc nuances adding yet more interest. This is a classy wine, with a front label anything but. Great value. 12% alc.
