What do you love about this region? Mudgee has an ideal climate and soil profile that is well suited to growing many different grape varieties. These conditions, combined with the energy, drive and comradery of our young band of winemakers, allows the region to produce small batches of high-quality wine. We love our ‘flying under the radar’ status, but word has spread and tourism’s booming with venues such as Pipeclay Pumphouse and Zin House leading the food scene being well supported by our local wine producers.
What sets your winery apart? Robert Stein Winery is known for producing some of NSW’s best riesling examples, along with a wide range of award-winning wines that represent the diversity of the Mudgee region. One of Mudgee’s older wineries with a winemaking history dating back to the 1830s, it is still family owned and operated by third-generation Jacob Stein. Our vineyard is environmentally sustainable, with a southwestfacing aspect, and a perfect mix of shale quartz and red ironstone soils producing exceptional quality fruit. The onsite farm, veggie gardens, restaurant and motorcycle museum offer our visitors much more than just a cellar door visit.
