Hand-picked, 4 days cold soak, wildfermented with 15% whole bunches and 10% whole berries, pressed to French oak (25% new) after 14 days open-top fermentation, matured for 15 months. Seriously good wine in an off-the-beaten-track (petrol heads not included) terroir. Exemplary balance and finesse for a shiraz that has taken all there is to offer in its swathe of black fruits. 13.9% alc. 2018 Tyrrell’s 4 Acres Hunter Valley Shiraz Planted in 1879 on the right-hand side of the driveway leading to the winery, on a precious patch of volcanic soil. Hand-picked, vineyard-sorted, wild yeastopen fermented, matured in a single 4yo French 2500l cask for 15 months. This is the heart of the Ashman’s Vineyard. This is quintessential, medium-bodied Hunter Valley shiraz from an exceptional vintage, framed by the freshness of the alcohol, in turn presenting gently earthy red and purple fruits and the gentle throb of acidity. 13.8% alc.
