What would you like readers to know about your winery?

Partners in life and in wine, our personal paradise lies at Moppa in the Barossa Valley’s north west corner. At the end of a dusty country road lined either side by skyscraperhigh pine trees. Just a simple cottage and a small shiraz vineyard, but surrounded on all sides by Barossa ‘wine royalty’ – some the best known names in Australian wine. Vineyards yielding some of the finest shiraz made anywhere on the planet. This is where we rest and where we work. Guided and assisted by neighbours, friends and the wonderful Barossa wine community. Applying what we’ve learned to grow the grapes and to make our own delicious wine.

Which of your latest releases are you most excited about?

We have just bottled the 2021 Pine Drive Shiraz. An almost perfect vintage in the Barossa Valley, yielding the best fruit we’d seen since purchasing the vineyard. We’ve been working hard to ensure the vineyard is well placed to produce consistently high quality fruit, and in 2021 nature delivered everything we could have asked for. This was also the first vintage working with the fabulous Jo Irvine who showed us how best to express the true character of the vineyard through the wine. It drinks beautifully as a young wine, but knowing the quality of the Moppa vineyard landscape, we’d expect the wine to reward 15+ years of careful cellaring.
