2021 Turkey Flat Barossa Valley Rosé

92 points

If you were after a consistently delicious rosé that ticked all the boxes, this pale and fragrant grenache-based offering would be a contender. Pale salmon in the glass with beautifully composed red cherry, plum and raspberry fruit, a touch of pressed-floral lift and a hint of marzipan and red licorice. The fruit weight and cadence across the palate is excellent; the finish is dry and moreish with the gentlest of phenolic tweaks. DB 12.5%.

2021 Spinifex Luxe Barossa Rosé

93 points

It’s been a minute between Luxe releases. Winemaker Pete Schell is a fan of Bandol rosés and the Luxe is a tip of the hat to the rosé styles of the Mediterranean. This year, a blend of 68/26/6% mataro/cinsault/vermentino. Red cherry, watermelon and pomegranate with hints of soft spice, crushed rock, blood orange and wild herbs. Slinky and textural with crisp acidity and a wicked stony, savoury finish. DB 12.5%.

2021 Bondar Wines McLaren Vale Grenache Rosé

96 points

Pale salmon pink; full-on perfume of rose petals and bath powder, but it’s the intensity of the brilliantly juicy palate that makes this so special. JH 13%.

2021 Medhurst Estate Vineyard Yarra Valley Rosé

95 points

The pale salmon hue reflects whole-bunch pressed cabernet sauvignon and shiraz, fermented off skins. Wafts of perfume float in the air, rose petals to the fore. The unexpectedly intense fruits span spices, light and dark, and small forest berries. Typical Medhurst class. JH 13%.

2021 Nocturne Wines Carbunup SR Sangiovese Nebbiolo Rosé

94 points

From the self-titled Prince of Pink (Sultan of Salmon, is another moniker) here in the west, comes another brilliant vintage of this wine. Balanced, layered, exciting, and littered with exotic spice, this is the full package. EL 13%.

2021 Garagiste Le Stagiaire Mornington Peninsula Rosé

Naturally fermented in old barriques, this is a textural and fragrant rosé. Vibrant and bright in the bottle, lifted floral perfume on the nose, lots of red berries, and spice. The palate has detail and again wild berries, cranberry, pomegranate and a hint of cinnamon, bright acidity and a finish with a lick of fine tannin.* 13%.

2021 Domenica Nebbiolo Rosé, Beechworth

Pink-gold, the colour is quite stunning. Quite shy and muted on the nose, as is often the case with rosé, but there are very pleasant delicate waftings of florals and red berries. The wine really comes alive on the palate, with a complex and shapely acid and phenolic structure unfurling from the midpalate, a mouthwatering quality commencing and continuing on with extreme length, driving the palate along, all the while moderated by just the right amount of phenolic grip.* 12.5%.
