MAKING MAGIC

You’re holding in your hands a very special issue of Home Beautiful, dedicated to the art of creating and the magic, beauty and joy of handmade. It’s one that we, as a team, look towards with an impossible-to-articulate mixture of trepidation and happiness – we know that the final product will be a testament to all the beautifully crafted Australian discoveries we’ve made throughout the course of the year. But it’s a challenge to bring them all together to grace our pages all at once, and also heartbreaking to make decisions about what won’t feature when there is so much talent out there. We’d love to share it all.

Some background. Not so long ago, we launched an Instagram feed to celebrate our ever-growing community of creatives so we could do just that. Some have already been showcased in the magazine, but for the most part, it features up-and-coming makers who are simply producing beautiful things, often in their spare time, at home in a space they’ve managed to carve out for themselves – like at the dining room table! Led by our incredibly passionate content producer Diana Moore, @hbcreativecollection has uncovered some true stars, and the artistry of these people has inspired our maker’s special in this issue – it’s our Creative Collection coming to life in print! Step inside inspiring workspaces and read about the uplifting journeys of five makers, from page 28.

We’re incredibly proud of everything we’re bringing you this month – from the fresh and welcoming front cover to the gorgeous homes of unique artisans (page 81), and inspiring handmade-infused decorating (page 51). I hope you enjoy it.
