The first room Sally and her husband, Brent, wanted to transform when it was time to renovate their Sydney home several years ago was the kitchen. Having spent time living in Boston, US, where she had fallen in love with the Hamptons look, Sally was keen to evoke a similar classic style in shades of grey and white, which would set the tone for all the home’s interiors. Enlisting the help of Dominique McAdam of Provincial Kitchens, the task involved reconfiguring the existing awkward galley layout to enhance its usefulness, and set aside room for an enviable butler’s pantry to house Sally’s treasured collections of crockery and serving ware. “Dominique designed the kitchen in our previous home 10 years ago,” says Sally, the mother of Ashton, 12, Walker, 10, and Piper, seven. “It still looks fantastic, and that’s exactly what I wanted here – a timeless, inviting space where I’d love to cook and spend time with the family.” The mum-of-three is thrilled with the result. Bespoke touches abound, from the handpainted timber cabinetry and stacks of storage designed to showcase and stow pretty kitchen accoutrements, to a generous, marble-look island bench where the family dines most nights. “I love absolutely everything,” says Sally, “but my favourite spot is probably the butler’s pantry. I really enjoy cooking here. It’s my baking sanctuary. Every day when I come home, I look around and think, ‘I just love this kitchen’.”
