Ireceived some good news this week. Actually it’s terrible news, but a little part of me is thrilled. It’s looking very likely that our daggy old bathroom is leaking through numerous cracks in multiple concerning directions, and we might have to rip out and replace the whole thing. Regular readers of Home

Beautiful know why this is good news, even though I have very little money to throw at the solution. The excitement has risen, because often the only reason we renovate is because we have to. It’s hard to justify replacing something perfectly functional, just because it has four different shaped and coloured tiles – even if one of those tiles is a red and grey feature tile, embossed with truly hideous early ’90s flamboyance! So this issue is perfectly timed for me. I get to think about renovating not just my bathroom, but my kitchen too! Turn to page 217 for our ‘Modern vs Classic’ Kitchen & Bathroom Special, which embodies the best of both styles and will challenge your notions of what might work best in your own home.

One of the other exciting things happening in this issue is the reveal of our Beautiful Rooms competition winner. I met with Temple & Webster head of styling Jessica Bellef to judge the entries and we agreed wholeheartedly on the decision. This year’s winner delivered a room that showed us how much potential every room has – not just by being beautifully styled, but also by featuring clever ideas that needn’t cost the earth. Turn to page 37 to see our 50 favourite rooms we uncovered this year, and to hear from our worthy winner, Mei Soh. One last thing – if you haven’t caught it online yet, visit our House

To Home Beautiful hub at homebeautiful.com.au/h2hb to see Aimee and Frank Tarulli’s amazing renovation unfolding, as it happens, and see our in-depth coverage from page 149. It’s a must-read for anyone considering whether to build a home or undergo a full-scale renovation, and Aimee’s styling tips will see the decorators happy, too.

Enjoy the issue!
