For Lara and her family, monochrome was the baseline when designing their new home on Sydney’s northern beaches. “Being an event stylist, I knew I would want to constantly play with accessories and florals around the home, and the blackand-white palette is an easy base for me to then layer with colour and texture,” explains Lara, who owns event styling and planning business, Honey Lane. The most functional rooms of the home, including the bathrooms, topped the monochrome must-do list. To execute her vision of this timeless aesthetic in the grown-ups’ ensuite, Lara engaged interior designer Naomi Nimmo of Nimmo Nielsen Collective, who conceptualised a carefully curated collection of looks, including evocative tiling palettes and cabinetry finishes. “The beauty of using black and white is that it provides a neutral foundation,” explains Naomi. “You can create different looks according to season, by layering cool hues in the warmer months, and swapping for warmer tones as the weather starts to cool down.”

“I’VE ALWAYS BEEN DRAWN TO A CLASSIC MONOCHROME LOOK, AND ADDING TOUCHES OF BRASS BRINGS A LEVEL OF LUXE I LOVE” ~ LARA
