5 TIPS FOR DECLUTTERING YOUR PANTRY:

- SARAH SHANAHAN

THERE HAS NEVER BEEN A BETTER TIME TO GET ONTO ALL THOSE PESKY ‘ONE DAY’ CHORES. HERE, ORGANISATION EXPERT SARAH SHANAHAN GIVES HER TOP TIPS FOR GIVING YOUR PANTRY A MUCH-NEEDED TIDY UP

1 Before you even start, have a vision for how you want your pantry to look and feel. If you can visualise it, you are more likely to actually achieve it.

2 Take everything out and edit! Wipe down all surfaces. Check use-by dates and start zoning and storing ‘like with like’ products together, for example, pastas, rices, cans, oils and baking supplies.

3 Invest in good-quality clear, airtight storage containers for dry ingredients. While it may cost a little to start with, it will save you time and money in the long run, as you’ll know exactly what you have and when it’s time to refill. Label! Labelling is the key and the icing on the cake to a well-organised and efficient pantry. Everyone in the house knows what everything is, so no excuses. [See below for HB’s pick of the labellers.]

4 Finally, store the most-used, everyday items at arm’s reach. Keeping them between waist and eye level provides the easiest access.
