Patrick J Jones workshops
Quick question – I want to re-download the issues with Patrick J Jones’ figure drawing workshops. Are you able to tell me which issue they started with? I think there were six instalments in a row? It’s a bit hard to tell from the issue descriptions in the app. Thanks!
Aidan, Sydney
Claire replies Hello Aidan, hope all is well in Sydney. Patrick – who’s based in Brisbane, funny enough – started his excellent workshop series on figure drawing in issue 167 (December 2018) and carried on for eight editions.
If other readers want to get hold of this series then the best way is to access our digital editions. Search for ‘Imaginefx’ on Zinio, Pocketmags or Apple Newsstand to be able to download us instantly. There’s also more information on our digital editions over on page 46.
Do you do digital art?
Can I have more information about your magazine please? I’m an Italian illustrator and am looking for a magazine that covers digital painting or digital character design in detail. I’m interested in finding out more about your magazine. Are there some suggestions or articles about colouring techniques using Photoshop or other digital art programs? And can you tell me where can I buy Imaginefx if I want a copy?
Paolo, Italy
Claire replies Thank you for your interest in our magazine. Imaginefx is dedicated to inspiring artists and also teaching digital and traditional art skills in Photoshop, Procreate and many more types of software. We also cover a range of traditional media such as watercolour and acrylics. We usually theme our editions based on different types of skill or interest.
We deliver to Italy. Visit our online store at www.myfavouritemagazines.co.uk. Here you’ll be able to see a list of our previous editions that are still available to buy from our store. Once you selected an edition, click the drop-down to choose Europe and the price you see includes the cost of delivery.
’Flesh’ coloured?
In 1962, Crayola smartly changed the name of their crayon “flesh” to peach. Calling such a colour “flesh” is not inclusive and suggests anything other is abnormal.
So it came as a shock to see at the bottom right-hand corner of page 78 of the Christmas 2018 issue of Imaginefx, “I’ve chosen a dark sanguine and a fleshcoloured paper.”
Flesh-coloured paper?! Grammar aside, such language is inappropriate, harmful, hurtful and disrespectful. Alonzo, Canada
Claire replies Thank you for your email Alonzo. You are absolutely right. We should have spotted that and amended it, before it ever got to print. I have forwarded on your email to my team so we will make sure this never happens again. Sincere apologies for our mistake and thank you for pointing this out to us.
