6 Painting an army

I decide to save time and create a custom brush to paint the countless wildlings – the army of soldiers – in the scene. I start by setting a new document’s size at 500 x 500 px and painting a few characters in slightly different poses. I ensure that the space between them is varied and irregular. Once I’ve painted three or four characters, I click Edit>Define Brush Preset. I can later make additional changes to the settings of my brush in the Brush options menu. This type of custom brush comes in handy, when I know I’ll be dealing with a large number of small silhouettes.
